HOMEGUARD COMMANDANT NABBED RED HANDED BY VIGILANCE IN BRIBERY CASE

 

Chandigarh, September 7: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against rampant corruption today nabbed a district Commandant posted at Punjab Homeguards in Bathinda red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.40000.

            Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Kewal Krishan, Commandant of Punjab Homeguards Bathinda was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 40000 from Mr. Pritpal Singh, a complainant of Bangi House, district Bathinda.

            Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and informed that he was working as volunteer homegurard in Bathinda and suspended in   2008 after conviction by the court in a NDPS case. He said as per government rules he continued his duty as the imprisonment duration was less than three years. He alleged that after re-joining the duty, Homeguard Commandant Kewal Krishan was harassing him and demanding Rs. 50000 for not to re-investigate his case in which he was earlier convicted and suspended from the duty. 

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed in the presence of two official witnesses on search of his office Rs. 44500 was recovered from him. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
