Singla undertakes a surprise check at PWD works in Sultanpur Lodhi

 

CHANDIGARH, June 1:

In view of 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji at Sultanpur Lodhi, Public Works Minister Punjab, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla made surprise check to assess the progress of PWD works at Sultanpur Lodhi. He was accompanied by Mr. Navtej Singh Cheema, MLA Sultanpur Lodhi.

Reviewing the progress of infrastructure and other amenities being put in place for the historic 550th Parkash Purb celebrations, the Minister directed PWD officials to ensure timely completion of the various projects and to ensure that all efforts are geared towards making the event a grand success. He directed that all the projects be completed well in time before the celebrations scheduled for November 2019. Slating September 30 as the deadline for completion of PWD works, Mr. Singla said that no laxity would be tolerated in this context.

Talking to media on the sidelines of the visit, Mr. Singla said that devotees in large number are expected to come to Sultanpur Lodhi for the 550th Birthday Celebrations of Guru Nank Dev Ji from different parts of Punjab, other states of India and abroad. In order to cater to huge rush of Sangat, the road connectivity to Sultanpur Lodhi with Majha, Doaba and Malwa area of Punjab needs to be improved. Accordingly, Public Works Department has prepared a project for widening and strengthening of 4 Plan Roads, said he. Mr. Singla added that special repair of 11 Plan Roads, construction of 3 High Level Bridges on Pavittar Bein for safe, smooth and efficient movement of vehicular traffic and 2 Foot Bridges for pedestrian traffic are also being constructed. He said that a new government Rest House has also been proposed for the stay of devotees coming from far off places since there is no Circuit House or Rest House of any Government Department at Sultanpur Lodhi except a small old Rest House.
