EDUCATION MINISTER ORDERS PROBE INTO AMARPURA SCHOOL INCIDENT

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 18:

The Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary has taken strong notice of an incident pertaining to residents of village Amarpura in District Fazilka alleging eve teasing of a girl student by the Principal of Government Senior Secondary School of the village and has promptly ordered an enquiry.

In a statement here today, the Minister said that as soon as the incident was brought to her notice, she immediately got in touch with the DPI (Secondary Education) and D.E.O. (Fazilka) to seek the details. She further said that after speaking to the Deputy Commissioner Fazilka, a 3 member committee has been formed under the D.E.O. (Fazilka). The committee also consists of a Tehsildar and a female Principal of a Government Senior Secondary School for Girls.

The Minister also divulged that the committee would submit its report within 24 hours. During the course of enquiry, the station of concerned Principal has been changed from the school to District Education Office so as to not hamper the investigation report. She also said that the next course of action would be taken after the submission of probe report. The Minister made it absolutely clear that any allegation being proven would invite severe action against the accused.
